We have a vision of a just, healthy, and democratic society where public health policies are built on unbiased science, free of industry influence that prioritizes health for all.
Industries that produce health-harming products, including fossil fuels, plastics, petrochemicals, tobacco, and ultra-processed foods, have waged a decades-long assault on government regulatory agencies and policymaking to rig rules in their favor at the expense of public health. At the same time, these health harming products have contributed to a rise in chronic disease. We are working to change that.
Sunshining Industry Tactics
Scientists studying tactics industries use to promote and protect their health-harming products shared their research findings at a scientific symposium to identify ways to collaborate on strategies to counter these tactics.
Strategies
Research industry tactics
Conduct research to reveal tactics that undermine science, regulations and health.
Sunshine conflicts of interest
Expose industry financial ties and lobbying that influence science and policy.
Communicate to prioritize health
We will work to correct the balance of power to prioritize health and justice.
