Work Matters: Step 4 - Be Aware of Harmful Exposures
The type of chemical you are exposed to, the amount, and how and when you are exposed are important factors in determining whether your exposure will be harmful.
If there is a chance of exposure to chemicals known to affect pregnancy and fetal development, find out as soon as possible if the kind of exposures you are likely to have could cause fetal harm. Then take all necessary steps to avoid exposure.
In addition, talk to your personal health care provider about your exposure to chemicals at work. Learn more about the role of your personal health care professional here.
You can also reach out to your company health care provider or health and safety specialist, worker advocates, or others who are knowledgeable about chemicals and their effects on health.
